Batemans Appoints Public Relations Consultancy Mint Communications

Independent family regional brewer Batemans, based in Lincolnshire, has for the first time appointed an external public relations consultancy – Mint Communications. Batemans, family run since 1874, aims to generate a higher profile in trade, consumer and local media for the its wide range of cask and bottled beers in addition to its 70-strong retail estate.

Mint was appointed following a three-way pitch. Gill Shaffer, managing director, has a wealth of experience in the drinks and brewing sectors. She was formerly in-house Head of Communications for the London based brewery Fuller’s and since setting up her own consultancy four years ago, has worked with UK-based as well as international breweries and drinks brands including Hook Norton, St Austell, Sierra Nevada, Weissbier Etalon, Kozel and Israeli winery Carmel.

Jaclyn Bateman, Batemans marketing director says:
“Mint Communications has a strong track record in successfully raising the profile of many other drinks brands. As such the consultancy was a natural choice to handle our business. It is the first time we have appointed a PR agency as we feel that now is the perfect time to capitalise on our growth and to concentrate on promoting our brewery, beers and pubs via a strategic media relations programme.
