Chapel opens at Yorkshire hotel

A hotel near the coastal resort of Scarborough in North Yorkshire has opened a chapel in one of its public rooms.

The Good Hope Chapel was opened in a service of dedication and blessing at the Raven Hall Country House Hotel in Ravenscar. Open every day, the chapel, which will hold a short service of devotions on three mornings each week for hotel guests and staff, also aims to be part of services within the local community.

The Raven Hall, once owned by an eccentric horserace-loving vicar, has 52 bedrooms, a heated swimming pool and 100 acres of grounds for outdoor activities including a golf course. Situated at the edge of the North York Moors, overlooking Robin Hood Bay, the hotel now provides facilities as a Christian Conference Centre and a place for retreats and spiritual holidays. The seaside town of Whitby, with its 7th century abbey ruins, is close by. Rooms from £90, bookings tel: 01723 870353.
