The UK’s leading collection of exclusive country house hotels, von Essen hotels celebrated its bi-annual party with the star-studded Platinum Party at Cliveden on Sunday 10th September.
The evening of revelry was attended by US film star, Lindsay Lohan and boyfriend Harry Morton as well as a host of famous socialites and personalities including Raine, Countess Spencer, Viscount and Viscountess Astor, Alexandra Aitken, Petrina Khashoggi, Lady Londonderry, Jasper Conran, Rebekah Wade, Murdoch McLennan, Uri Geller, Richard Wilson and Tina Weaver.
Miss Lohan’s entrance by Range Rover was relatively low key, with some guests choosing to arrive by helicopter. A flagship Sikorsky helicopter S76b was stationed on the property’s stunning parterre with other helicopters arriving in the hotel’s grounds.
Guests were treated to a fabulous line-up of entertainment including stilt-walking swans and zebras, fire-eaters, The Fantasy Boys and a swing band. There were a number of surprises on the night with Burlesque performer, Roxy Silver added to the line-up and the spectacular sushi creations of Cocoon restaurant served off the bodies of naked models.
Leading nightclub, Boujis relocated to Cliveden for the evening with house DJ joined by the lovely Miss Lohan behind the decks.
von Essen’s hospitality included an elaborate buffet prepared by Michelin starred Executive Head Chef, Daniel Galmiche and team. Guests were treated to more than 500 lobsters, 3000 oysters, 20 kilos of beluga caviar and more than 2000 bottles of Perrier-Jouet Champagne.
Chairman, Andrew Davis was in a celebratory mood having recently announced two new acquisitions – Ynyshir Hall in Mid Wales and Ickworth in Suffolk taking the number of hotels in the collection to 22.
Commenting on the evening, Mr Davis said: ‘I am delighted that so many people were able to enjoy the evening with the Platinum Party really capturing the essence of Cliveden’s racy legacy’.
No stranger to hosting glamorous parties, Cliveden was the scene of the infamous Profumo affair – the scandal that erupted after Christine Keeler’s poolside liaisons with Secretary of State for War, John Profumo and was eventually responsible for bringing down a government.
