Scotland for connoisseurs

A castle, a train and a sea-going yacht are all included in the 2005 Connoisseur’s Scotland Directory offering 17 of Scotland’s finest accommodation providers. From bases for exploring the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh to some of the most remote and magnificent settings in the UK there is a wealth of variety all offering superb quality and character.

New properties in the directory this year include:

- Prestonfield in Edinburgh, Scotland’s latest five-star hotel, a 17th century mansion close to the Royal Mile.

- Boath House, a Georgian mansion near Nairn with its own trout lake and 30 golf courses within an hour’s drive.

- Knockinaam Lodge on the south- west tip of Scotland with 30 acres of gardens and its own private sandy beach.

The Royal Scotsman luxury train and the MV Hebridean Princess cruise ship provide more unusual holiday options, while all the hotels offer the best of Scotland’s culinary produce. Many also have spa facilities and opportunities to experience outdoor pursuits.
