Theresa Maw has joined the five-star Renaissance Chancery Court in London as General Manager. A dynamic individual with a wealth of experience, Theresa has been involved in the hospitality industry for over 29 years.
Theresa’s passion for the hotel business was born when she joined Cunard International Hotels in 1977 and has continued to grow over the past 21 years, whilst she has been working for Marriott. In 1985 Theresa joined the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, the first Marriott hotel in the capital, as Guest Relations Manager before being promoted to Director of Revenue Strategy then Director of Services. Following her time at Grosvenor Square, Theresa was promoted to the International Regional Team within Marriott to the position of Director of International Operations. In this role, she opened over 25 hotels throughout the world and she was also responsible for operations training across the UK, Africa, Central Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.
In the next phase of her career Theresa returned to London properties and was responsible for overseeing the opening of the London Marriott County Hall and Renaissance Chancery Court, before being appointed as General Manager at the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane in March 2002. In 2003 Theresa was named Marriott International Worldwide GM of the Year and in 2006 she was short listed in the Manager of the Year category in the prestigious Catey awards. Theresa is also a recipient of the J.W.Marriott Award of Excellence which is Marriott’s highest accolade.
Commenting on her return to Chancery Court, where she will oversee over 350 staff and 356 bedrooms, as well as an award-winning spa and Pearl destination restaurant, Theresa said, “It is very exciting to be back at this magnificent property and I’m really looking forward to having the opportunity to manage a larger hotel and to working with the team.”
