Just in time for Christmas - the most popular time to propose. A North Yorkshire based hotel conducted research into our views and opinions of romance and getting engaged, to discover some unusual facts and figures, which have been utilised to create the first romance ‘event’ and Romance Concierge, in the UK.
The research showed that Christmas was one of the most popular times of year to propose. So, with many people planning to pop the question to their partners this winter, men - and women - all around the UK will be scratching their heads about how to provide that perfect occasion to ask the all important question.
When planning a flawless engagement there are many details to consider. From determining the time and place of the proposal, to figuring out how to say those four little words, asking for someone’s hand in marriage can be an overwhelming process. However, the Feversham Arms research and unique offering can take all problems and worries away.
If you are thinking of taking your partner to Paris or Vienna to pop the question, think again. Surprisingly, 80% of the UK’s men and women wanted to get engaged here in the UK - allowing them to revisit the place of their proposal - as opposed to Paris or Venice, which have become “too clichéd” according to all age groups.
Partners proposing this Christmas, a costly time of year, will be pleased to hear that The Feversham Arms Hotel found that the value of the ring was not important to 81% of the UK’s female population, although women over 45 did consider it to be of more importance than the younger age groups.
If planning a weekend away to propose, a resounding 99% of the UK population would prefer an intimate boutique country hotel over a city-based or chain hotel. Many women said they would like “...a romantic, countryside hotel with wood burning fires…”
In fact, real wood burning fires came out as one of the key ingredients of a truly romantic setting, along with a luxury suite, chocolates, flowers in the room and gourmet food. With so much to think about and plan to make every aspect of the proposal just right, The Feversham Arms found a way to make it all much easier.
With 77% of the UK’s population having too little romance in their lives, the marriage proposal had better be an occasion to sweep women (and men, as more women are proposing to their partners) off their feet. The Feversham Arms, a 21-bedroom boutique hotel set amongst the backdrop of heather clad moors, is providing something no other UK establishment offers – a romance package, tailored to each couple, with advice and guidance provided by its female Romance Concierge.
The Concierge will advise on special touches such as writing ‘will you marry me?’ in tea lights in the garden, if required, or providing that special meal or bottle of wine ordered on your first date. Customers simply need to call and talk through their requirements.
