The 700th anniversary of Robert the Bruce becoming King of Scots is among the historic events being marked by some of Scotland’s most important buildings and locations in a programme from Historic Scotland. ‘The Bruce, Hero King’ (July 29-30) at Caerlaverock Castle near Dumfries will see a weekend of re-enactments around a ‘medieval’ encampment.
Other highlights include ‘Spectacular Jousting’ (July 1-2) at Fort George near Inverness and a Monty Python Day at Doune Castle near Stirling (Sept. 3), the location for the filming of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
