Young visitors to London's most iconic landmark have pencils poised for a day out with a difference this half term. The Tower Bridge Exhibition, in association with the Southwark-based Guy Fox History Project, is inviting younger visitors to “draw what you see” from the unique vantage point of the famous high-level Walkways, 45 metres above the Thames. Each picture will be uploaded for immediate viewing on the specially-created Children’s Art Gallery at www.towerbridgefacts.co.uk.
“Draw what you See” drop-in workshops provide everything needed to capture fresh views of the Capital’s most striking buildings, from historic characters like The Tower of London, The Monument or St Paul’s to more recent additions such as the Norman Foster Gherkin, Canary Wharf or The Dome. The Guy Fox History Project is running these workshops to celebrate the publication of the London Children's Map, an illustrated map designed especially for children.
“With such inspiring views of London and the Thames, and help from the Guy Fox artists, young visitors will have no trouble creating masterpieces for the online gallery,” says Marketing Manager Emma Parlow from the Tower Bridge Exhibition. “We supply the art materials, the hands-on advice and the amazing view – our visitors supply the imagination. It’s going to be fun to see which subjects prove most popular and to watch the gallery grow.”
Draw what you See workshops run from 11.00am to 3.00pm on weekdays only from 29th May – 7th June, with no prior booking required. Workshops are included in the usual Tower Bridge Exhibition ticket price: adults £5.50; children £3.50; concessions £4.25.
