New Art Exhibition at One-O-One

One-O-One, London's best fish restaurant in Knightsbridge, has just launched a new art exhibition which will be displayed until the end of April 2006.

The exhibition, titled ‘Ethereal Velocity’ shows French artist, Laurie Gabay’s modern works of abstract expressionism. The ‘movement’ theme that surrounds each of the paintings expresses Laurie’s love of dance and her fascination with translating energy into colour.

Laurie says, “From an early age I learnt ballet and movement, and this has been my focus of energy in life. My paintings explore the dynamics of colour through movement in space.

The artwork at One-O-One will be on sale, priced between £300 and £2,500, with the restaurant’s total commission on the paintings going to The Living Painting Trust. This charity works to provide access for blind and partially sighted people of all ages, to the magical world that is created by pictures. In order to achieve this they create unique touch and sound packs to lead people through the art, explaining a wide variety of images from the Mona Lisa to Thomas the Tank Engine.

Darren Neilan, Restaurant Manager at One-O-One, who searched for the ideal paintings for the restaurant for several months, said: “I knew immediately that I had found the perfect artist for the restaurant. It is fabulous to be displaying Laurie’s contemporary art in One-O-One and to be helping a very worthwhile charity at the same time. Our customers appreciate the finer things in life and I know that they will welcome the opportunity to view these beautiful images.”

Laurie’s work can be admired all around One-O-One, as well as in the adjoining bar, the perfect place to view the art over a pre-dinner drink.
