Britain’s oldest museum is to display over 200 of the most significant objects from its collections of archaeology, Eastern art, coins and casts side by side in a special exhibition for the first time.
Treasures of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (May 24 – December 31) features items from four continents and thirty cultures, dating from Palaeolithic times to the present day. It includes the Jericho Skull, one of the earliest representations of the human image, dating from 8000 BC. Open daily except Mondays, admission is free. Tel: 01865 278000.
