This year, why not take the hassle out of Christmas shopping and make it an experience you will want to remember for always? Forget the hustle and bustle of the local high street and head off to one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, Trentino.
Located at the heart of the snow-capped Dolomite mountains, Trentino offers a taste of a simpler way of life, of Christmases gone by and of a relaxation that simply cannot be found on any British high street.
In Trentino the leisurely pace of Italian life is coupled with the majestic alpine scenery, that we all associate with Christmas. The aroma of delicious, warming, local produce can be found at every street corner to tempt your taste buds and inspire you to try new dishes this festive season. At nightfall the sky is illuminated by thousands of beautiful twinkling fairy lights, as you make your way towards the music, excitement and general hubbub that surrounds one of Trentino’s magical Christmas markets.
Markets can be found throughout the region, offering a wide array of treats and unusual gifts to fill even the trickiest of stockings. Each year from 27 November to 24 December Trento hosts a traditional and uniquely Italian Christmas market in the Piazza Fiera, overflowing with the arts and crafts of the region from pottery and sculpture to local food and mulled wines to keep you warm this yuletide. Here children can play on Father Christmas’ train, while parents browse the beautiful Christmas stalls for toys and baubles. Arco also promises festive entertainment from 19 November to Christmas Eve, with jugglers, music and singers all vying for your attention amidst some of the best local craftwork available in Trentino.
In Levico from the end of November until the beginning of January, you can capture the flavour of Christmases gone by, browsing stalls filled with Christmas goodies in the Parco delle Terme set out by the Hapsburg dynasty over a hundred years ago.
Both hotel and apartment accommodation is available throughout Trentino the Christmas period and with airlines such as British Airways, EasyJet and Ryanair flying to a number of airports in the neighbouring regions, booking a holiday for this Christmas has never been easier.
