Gung Hay Fat Choy: Happy New Year From Imperial City

Imperial City, Royal Exchange, Cornhill, London EC3, is hosting a fortnight of food festivities from Monday 23 January to Sunday 5 February to celebrate the Year of the Dog.

The first restaurant ever opened by Ken Hom, Imperial City combines the traditional with the adventurous, with a five course Chinese New Year banquet at £35.95 per person for a minimum of two people, including a glass of bubbly*.

Created by Ken Hom, now chef consultant to the restaurant, the banquet offers dishes which are both delicious and auspicious. Every course is packed with significance, with Prawn Satay for happiness and laughter, Crispy Duck for fidelity and harmony, Fish – Steamed Halibut with black bean and crispy shredded leek - for togetherness and abundance. There are Imperial Noodles and Shangai Noodles, served uncut, to signify longevity, and Free range Suffolk chicken with lemon and fat choi for good fortune. Although abundant, the food is lighter than expected, hence indulgence becomes a pleasure at Imperial City.

Moreover, all diners will be offered a refined Chinese horoscope to see what’s in store in the Year of the Dog, together with the augural fortune cookies for luck and prosperity.

Situated in the undercroft of the Royal Exchange Building in the City of London, Imperial City’s modern interior retains a traditional Chinese charm, even more evident at Chinese New Year time. There are exotic fish thanks, a dragon painted air conditioning duct and an ornamental rockery complete with waterfall – all features which enhance prosperity and luck at Chinese New Year Time.

*glass of bubbly offer is for those over 18 years of age, evenings only and whilst stocks last
