London Dining - April

A new Japanese restaurant and special events at Pearl Restaurant and Bar feature in news from London's restaurant scene.

Shimo Restaurant and Bar (17-18 Tooks Court, EC4A 1LB) in the heart of the City of London, is named after the Japanese abbreviation for November, when fish becomes most delicious and the crab season begins. The menu offers sushi and sashimi among an array of traditional dishes including black cod and rib-eye teriyaki, followed by a European selection of desserts: for example, warm Swedish chocolate torte or raspberry semifreddo. 'Decadent Saturdays' at Pearl Restaurant and Bar (252 High Holborn, WC1V 7EN) is a series of special evenings allowing guests to spoil themselves and sample a range of luxury Champagnes such as Cristal, Dom Perignon and Krug, accompanied by some delicious indulgent foods. Champagne with Chocolate (April 21), Champagne with Caviar (June 2), Champagne with Oysters (Sept. 8) and Champagne with Truffles (Dec. 1) will be led by the Sommelier and Executive Chef who will share their expertise with guests.
