Mridula Baljekar's latest book - Great Indian Feasts, has been shortlisted for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in the Best Asian Cuisine 2006 category.
Great Indian Feasts hit the book shelves back in September 2005 covering festivals and celebrations across India including recipe ideas for Christmas and Easter using an Indian twist.
The book includes 130 carefully chosen recipes from Spiced Dumplings in Rose-Scented Cream Sauce for Diwali to Roast Turkey Marinated in Spice-Laced Yogurt and Guinea Fowl Korma for Christmas and Thanks Giving Celebrations.
The recipes are matched with stunning photography from Matt Monro who is fast making a name for himself in food photography in the UK.
“During festivals, food is the focal point. Festivals are times of togetherness, of sharing the common ground provided by religious and social beliefs, and of guiding the younger generation towards caring and sharing.“ Says Mridula.
Shortlisted winners of this prestigious award will soon compete for the “Best in the World” to be celebrated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 17-21, 2006.
