Singapore, August 2006 - Amongst the 1,900 coral atolls of Maldives is South Nilandhe Atoll, where Angsana Resort & Spa Velavaru expects its first guests come November 2006. As part of the Banyan Tree Group, Angsana Velavaru marks the Asian luxury resort operator’s third foray into the Maldives, joining Angsana Resort & Spa Maldives Ihuru and sister property Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru.
The 79-villa Angsana Velavaru promises to entice new and seasoned visitors to the Maldives with its blend of trademark contemporary design, marine biodiversity, family-oriented facilities and acclaimed Angsana Spa treatments.
In conjunction with the resort opening, guests staying six nights will get to enjoy the seventh night with our compliments and a 20% off body massages at Angsana Spa. This Velavaru Sampler plan is valid for stays from 1 November until 10 December 2006.
An Unforgettable Stay
“Velavaru” translates as ‘Turtle Island’ in the indigenous language of Dhiveli. The island resort is a 40-minute seaplane journey from Male International Airport, and rests on the virtually untouched South Nilandhe Atoll. The dive sites are strikingly beautiful, making this the most sought-after destination for marine enthusiasts.
The spacious 60,000-square metre island allows for 79 individual villas with direct beach frontage to the sparkling shores of the spectacular Indian Ocean. In addition, a selected few have sensational sunrise views. The resort comprises 28 Beachfront Villas, 30 Beachfront Villas with jet-pools, 18 Deluxe Beachfront Pool Villas, two Velavaru Villas and one Angsana Villa.
Each villa has a private garden, indoor and outdoor showers with selected villas featuring either a private jet-pool or plunge pool. The Velavaru Villa combines two villas to afford a generous living area as well as a jet pool. The luxurious Angsana Villa is the size of four standard villas and boasts its own private strip of beachfront on top of separate living, dining and lounge areas, which open up to a jet-pool and plunge pool.
Emphasis is placed on the use of outdoor space, without compromising the sense of privacy. Design-wise, modern Angsana hues of lime green and persimmon orange dominate the senses whilst feature walls of contemporary art showcases colourful marine life.
Luxurious Facilities
The resort is well equipped to satisfy all guests with an appetite for fun. Funa is a lively seafood grill and restaurant, which distils the essence of Maldivian ingredients with a gourmet touch. Kaani is a meeting point of cultural cuisines served throughout the day, starting with a full Western breakfast buffet, continuing with numerous lunch options, and ending with an abundance of European dishes with an Asian twist for dinner. At Kuredhi bar, guests enjoy beachside views as they enjoy a selection of cocktails and snacks from the international menu.
For the sporting guests, the resort’s Marine Centre offers a range of recreational pursuits, from snorkelling, scuba diving to marine biology excursions. Young guests get their very own Kids’ Club with special activities to keep their inquisitive minds occupied.
Angsana Spa Velavaru comprises 12 spa treatment rooms, including nine spa pavilions with outdoor showers. The spirited juxtaposition of contemporary chic with exotic Asian splendour provides a relaxing backdrop for Angsana Spa’s award-winning blend of treatments based on the use of natural ingredients such as native flowers and fruits.
Another highlight is the Angsana Gallery where souvenirs like Maldivian handicrafts and Angsana Spa products such as essential oils, massage oils, incense, body, foot and hair care toiletries as well as spa accessories are available.
