Sunsail buys £1.2 million of new sailing equipment for its activity & watersports beach resorts

Sunsail Clubs, the market leaders in watersports beach resorts, is buying new sailing equipment valued at over £1,200,000 for its eight activity and watersports beach resorts, four of which are in Turkey, three in Greece and one all year round resort in Antigua in the Caribbean.

The new equipment, of which a large amount is going to Sunsail’s brand new Club Phokaia in Turkey, consists of nearly 250 dinghies, over 30 catamarans and over 100 sailboards. Some will be replacing existing equipment and others will be a brand new addition.

Joining the vast amount of sailing equipment for the first time at Sunsail Clubs will be the Topaz Xenon, selected as the boat of choice for the Champion of Champions event the Endeavour Trophy, the Laser Vago and the Starboard Startsailor 117 and 127 sailboards.

Amongst the other new equipment will be no less than 36 Laser 1s, 32 Hobie 15 Club catamarans, 29 Topaz Omegas, 15 Laser Funboats, and 6 RS Vareos. But by far the largest number of boats from one type will be the Topper Topaz, with three different variants, the Uno and the Race X, as well as the kids’ boat the Taz.

The new equipment will be shipped out to the various clubs in the New Year ready for the start of the European season in April. The Caribbean kit is being shipped at the moment.

Commenting on the purchase of the new equipment, Nicole Gelissen, Marketing Manager for Sunsail Clubs and Flotillas, said:-

“This is the largest amount of new equipment we have bought for some time and reinforces our philosophy to provide the best quality of equipment for our clients and covering a wide variety of performance.”

“We aim to cater for the absolute beginner who wants to learn to sail, right up to the expert who is fully at home racing a Hobie Cat or International 29er, and everything in between.”
