Third Agatha Christie Week on 'English Riviera'

The seaside town of Torquay in South-West England is planning its third annual Agatha Christie week this September (10-16) to celebrate its best known daughter with a series of events. Coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the publication of Death on the Nile, this will be part of a nationwide festival of the life and works of the most published novelist of all time. Events in Torquay will include The Agatha Christie Theatre Company performing The Unexpected Guest at the Princess Theatre (Sept. 10-15), talks by famous crime writers, creative writing workshops, street performances and special screenings of Agatha Christie films.

Christie was born in the town in 1890 and lived there for many years. Visitors to the area-known as 'The English Riviera'- at any time can discover the places she enjoyed and was inspired by, using an 'Agatha Christie Trail' on the Internet which includes the Grand Hotel where she spent her honeymoon, Torre Abbey, which houses Christie's typewriter and Beacon Cove, where she enjoyed bathing.
