El Gouna, The Red Sea’s Premier Leisure Destination, offers a vast selection of facilities and activities suitable for all family members, regardless of their age group or inclination. The compact layout of El Gouna and excellent infrastructure make it easy and safe to get around, whether by lagoon boat, regular bus service, environmentally friendly Tok Tok, or El Gouna taxi.
This means that guests can take advantage of all the activities available across the whole resort, as well as those located in their own hotel. Guests can drop their children off at a variety of supervised and dedicated clubs, enabling them to take some time out to enjoy the vast array of adult activities available at El Gouna, which include golf, diving, kite surfing, water skiing and simply relaxing on the beach. Les Petites International Nursery for Residents & Tourists allows children to mix with a wide variety of others while enjoying an array of educational and fun activities. Children will be looked after by international professionally trained staff and enjoy pastimes such as swimming lessons, art, dance, gymnastics and puppet shows. The nursery also organises daytime and evening babysitting services.
Many of the hotels, such as the Mövenpick Resort & Spa, Sheraton Miramar Resort, Steigenberger Golf Resort & Rihana Inn, offer Snoopy Clubs and there are a variety of activities that take place throughout the day. Daily programmes at hotels include beach games, water polo, balloon games, interactive sports and themed days, such as Indian Day, Pirates’ Day and Handcrafts’ Day. Animation teams are available most of the day to keep restless children entertained so adults can relax.
Should the family want to enjoy activities together, there are diving programmes tailored for the whole family, as well as courses specifically for the kids; such as the PADI Bubble Maker, discover scuba diving, junior scuba diving, junior open water course, snorkelling and more. El Gouna is also home to Egypt’s only professional water skiing centre where children as young as two have learnt to take part. In addition, the family can learn and practice their golfing skills on the driving range at the Fred Couples and Gene Bates designed par 72, 18-hole USPGA golf course, or the 18 – hole mini-golf course at the Abu Tig Marina.
There are evening activities taking place every day of the week, whether it be the talent show on Sunday night, or the kids’ party at the Mirage disco on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition, the hotels have a variety of entertainment opportunities, including the spooky evening and monster evening at the Rihana Inn, a board games fest and mini disco at the Sheraton Miramar or the snoopy disco, indoor colouring, dominoes and table games at the Mövenpick hotel.
Other attractions in El Gouna include: an aquarium, home to sea horses, piranhas Spanish divers and baby crocodiles; and a fish and fowl farm, where visitors can fish for their lunch, bird watch, visit the flamingos, or meet Minu and Habiba, the farm’s resident ostriches. There is a go-cart racing circuit and the Yalla Horse Stables offer pony rides for children aged 2 to 10, as well as a special pony carriage and larger carriage available to offer sightseeing excursions for all the family. Island Adventure excursions take place on nearby Zeytuna Island for a day of snorkelling, horseback riding and photo opportunities with the local camel and with year round temperatures averaging 21?C and only 14 days’ rain a year, almost nothing can spoil the fun.
