Have bike, go pedal – in London

A cyclist who used to travel to various cities on business, exploring them by bike during his time off - but often found it difficult to reach the rental location - has launched a business that makes it easy for London visitors. Simon Ford set up Go Pedal, the city's first company to deliver bikes to any central London hotel – or other pre-arranged spot – last year, and has already won a 'best innovative business' award from his home borough, Wandsworth.

London has become very cycle-friendly in the last few years, with many clearly marked routes and the number of Londoners taking to two wheels has doubled in five years. Go Pedal uses simple, hybrid bikes supplied with good locks and helmets and Simon provides free maps and advice on where to go and what to take in. Costs are in the region of £20 per day, including delivery and collection – more if you have just one bike, less if you have several bikes for a longer period. As well as keeping fit, cyclists are surprised how quickly they can get around, and they are doing their bit for the environment. Tel: 07850 796320. Website: www.gopedal.co.uk
