Two popular London attractions will give visitors contrasting experiences. Those venturing into the London Dungeon will stand in the shoes of the first prisoners to be hanged at infamous Newgate Prison in 1783 when a new ride, Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom, opens on March 30. Riders will be taken by 'hangmen' to stand back to back and be raised to a great height before dropping at speed. The Dungeon, near London Bridge, brings to life dark and gruesome moments from the country's past using interactive exhibits, shows and rides, including Traitor: Boat Ride to Hell. At London Zoo in Regent's Park a new permanent attraction will allow visitors to get up close and personal with a colony of Western lowland gorillas in the serenity of the African rainforest. Gorilla Kingdom (opening March 29) has been carefully designed to mimic a 'bai' or forest clearing where gorillas spend time in the wild, with edible plants and herbs.
